Wine

My Special Lady and I went to a winemaking event last night in New Jersey. Does that seem odd? It seemed strange to me that winemakers would set up shop in the Jersey suburbs.

Anyway, we were supposed to stomp on grapes, like they did on that I Love Lucy episode. But the grape harvest in Chile was late, blah blah blah. So, no grape stomping.

Luckily, we were able to toss back a few "samples." They had a ton of wine there. Well, more than a ton actually. Each barrel holds 50 gallons and there were several other full racks like the one in the first picture.

  1. That is sooo strange. Winemaking in Jersey, ughhh. That sounds a bit scary. But hell, if it’s free wine I’d drink it too.

  2. Contrary to popular believe, NJ is actually only gross up near Newark. The rest of it is really pretty.

  3. Yeah. This place was in Cherry Hill, just outside of Philly. Very nice town.

And the grapes were being shipped in from Chile. But still, I wouldn’t typically expect to see “Jersey” and “wine production” in the same sentence.

But the coolest part is, when you participate there, you actually become a licensed wine maker in the New Jersey state records.
