Happy Mother’s Day

I woke up this morning at 7:46am to the sound of my wife's cell phone. It was beeping because she had just received this text message:

I don't normally wake up that early on a Sunday. I was tired, hungover, confused.

See, my wife is not a mother. I wonder if I'm supposed to see this as some sort of premonition. Shit, I'm starting to scare myself.

I didn't recognize the sender's number. Surely it was a simple mistake. Somewhere out there, a mom is missing her Mother's Day text message. I just hope the son or daughter who sent the message had sense enough to call or send a card as well.
