I Rarely Discuss Politics

As my Father-in-law says, "opinions are like assholes - everyone's got one."

When I come across political blogs, I move right along. A left-leaning blogger is just as boring as a right-leaning blogger if the topic is a standard slanted view on some current event..

So I assure you, I will not even begin to discuss politics here. That's mainly because I don't care what you think. However, I will say this: I am a registered Libertarian.

  1. Me too, babe. I just peruse the politics.

  2. What do you call yourself if you hate Bush but you love guns?

  3. Yeah, Desult. You gotta stay informed.

Ev, if you’re serious, you may want to look a little deeper into Libertarianism. The philosophy is simple: as little goverment infringement as possible. Ex: legalization of marijuana, allowing same-sex marriage, supporting the rights of gun owners, etc.

  4. I remain the opposite. Communist.

But, again, nobody cares – so I don’t talk about it.

  5. That’s how I feel, Maine. I’m certainly not trying to convince anyone.

Political dialogue can be so pointless at times, because people are often completely set in their ways. It’s nearly impossible to convince someone that you’re right, when they believe something entirely different.

Look, I’m boring my self right now with my own comment. Tits. Ass. Explosions. Okay, that’s better.

  6. Sweet Ass Tits and Explosions! Now I remember why I read the Churning!

    For the Asstits and Explosions!

  7. You know, now that you mention it – ass and explosions probably should not be mentioned together. That’s kinda gross.

  8. Some political blogs are so pesimistic. Not my style. We dabble in politics on our site, but we never lose sight of the need for humor. And sometimes we combine the two. For example, how hillarious is it that the top 2 leaders of our nation are respectively Bush & Dick?

  9. Sar, I’m definitely not talking about you and Strider. Another one of my favorites, AofG, also dabbles a bit in politics. There are others I enjoy as well – but they all have one thing in common: they’re funny and they don’t pull punches.

I’ve seen so many blogs lately on Blogexplosion written with a “religious right” slant. They take themselves way too seriously to be funny. I’m real quick to hit that “Do Not View” button. That way, I’ll never see them again.

  10. I hear you, JJ. Politics, politics, politics, especially politics that are always slanted way to the left or way to the right, can truly become a drag. Personally, I generally could care less if one is a rightie or a leftie. But the one thing I truly can’t stand are extremists. No use for them at all.

    Thanks for the props.

  11. JJ, you’ve been “tagged.” Check out my blog for details (or use this link).

  12. JJ – Whew!…and thanks. :) BTW, I thought for sure you’d like my Bush (*giggle*) and Dick joke.

  13. You got it, Jackie.

Okay, Strider – I’ll give it a shot. Thanks.

You’re right, Sar. That’s exactly my kind of humor. I love it.

  14. if all libertarian are like you and lionel… lot funnier than the comedy that is our current political situation (both sides)…

also funny that the talk of not talking of politics turns into a political discussion…

  15. Ah yes, Trav. The irony is not lost on me. I actually thought this would end up being a discussion on medicinal marijuana laws. C’est la vie.

  16. Don’t lie JJ, you LOVE discussing politics, especially with Jon and me.

  17. I love Forrest. He’s so wise.

  18. You are so right, J.Mo – but that’s because I just loooove drama.

You are correct, C Ro. He’s got an amazing knack for seeing the big picture.
