tom delay

Former U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay of Texas is named in an arrest warrant issued Wednesday.

Travis County grand juries have returned separate indictments against DeLay charging conspiracy and money laundering in an alleged scheme to funnel corporate donations through a DeLay-founded political committee to candidates for the Texas House of Representatives in 2002.

DeLay denies the allegations and says he’s innocent.

Travis County court officials say DeLay has been ordered to appear at the Fort Bend County jail for booking.

That's where he'll likely be fingerprinted and photographed.

Defense attorney Dick DeGuerin says the warrant is a matter of routine and bond, which is set at $10,000, will be posted.

The lawyer declined to say when DeLay would surrender to authorities but said the lawmaker would make his first court appearance Friday in Austin.
