My feeling is that they're doing what those (illegal) companies that phone people with automated dialers do. There's nobody there, but since you picked up the phone, they know that you're real and they add you to their list of who to send real live marketers to. Or, they might be trying to get you to accept their comments so that they will be considered "OK" to comment, like we do all the time with first time posters.
