borat at cannes film festivalLooks like the hype paid off for Borat. The movie has already made a profit - in one weekend - at only 837 theaters. The internet hype machine failed Snakes on a Plane, but it lifted Borat to a $26 million pay day. Is this proof that America actually has a sense of humor? Or is it possible the theaters were simply crowded with sexist anti-Semites laughing their asses off?

I guess it doesn’t really matter. This thing’s going national - to 2,500 theaters. And it makes sense. Just look at the sexy package that guy’s dangling in the picture on the left from the Cannes Film Fest. Who wouldn’t want to watch that shit in action for an hour and a half? I’m sure the red-staters are going to love him.

Was it that the hype failed SOAP or the fact that it really is just a bad, campy movie? Word of mouth goes a long way after the pre-hype dies. Either way, I totally want to see Borat.

Now that’s just WRONG! It reminds me though of one episode on COPS where this trucker, dressed in a speedo type leotard in a leopard skin pattern called them to report being robbed. LMAO

    ok jj,

maybe i mis-read your post. but you said , people believe the hype of this movie or a bunch of anti-semites love this movie? i think you have no hope or faith in the comman human being. THIS DOES MATTER.

you are not a god giving information to a bunch of morons.

this movie is making fun of a niave ignorant man. his name is borat. if these so called anti-semites like this movie than in fact they are laughing at themselves. i laughed and enjoyed this movie. i’ve always loved Sanchen’s roles and him making fun of 20th century hummanity stereotypes.

Everyone was in love with the HYPE of snakes on a plane and not the actual movie. i really see no comparison.

sorry for the battle. but by reading this i “think” you are for this movie, but in fact, it is just a movie and nothing more.

as far as politics go the dems are running the house now and i’m happy.

    Randi:
Yeah, I hope you’re right. This movie is obviously more than just hype. The critics really seem to love it (unlike SOAP).

    MacBros:
Every guy needs a set of those.

    Diane:
    Wrong? Or sexxxy?

    Jessica:
Yeah, I can’t wait. I haven’t seen it yet either.

    jimmy:
The movie has only opened in big cities for the most part. When it opens nationwide this weekend, I;m wondering if the red staters will get the joke or if they’ll think Borat’s the real deal. Either way, I hope they like it.
