  1. Pfft!
What ever happened to just rolling down the street?

I remember taking the steel wheels off from the roller skates and nailing them to a 2×4.

Oh good times, yea… good times. *sigh*

  2. i swear. i used to be pretty good. i was sponsored and shit by local shops. but i “slow mo” some of rodney’s shit and still do not get it.

    trick:

kick flips and then kicks it to flip it the other way?

slides on the side of his board?

flips it however the fuck he wants and lands it.

has balance of being like weightless on the moon!!!!!
    .

much more but his skill is boarder(pun intended) line me wanting to kick his ass because i can’t do it!

  3. oh, ps.

if you have never tried skateboarding, rodney mullen is breaking many laws of physics.

kinda like how a helicopter flies. breaks laws of physics.

  4. I saw a old school hessian dude skating in the street last night in Philly. He was on one of those tiny freestyle boards from the 80’s – you know, the ones that were like half the size of a regular street board. Badass.

  5. I saw this live on TV when I was but a wee lad:

  6. yeah, i owned a freestyle board. it was a pier welender. shit was a lot different from the huge boats they had back in the day. i actually street skated with it (ahead of my time?).

Street skating pretty much killed freestyle. And it happened to be a pretty sweet transition for Rodney. The boards are a lot smaller now which is what he is accustomed to.

That guy is my age (35) and still fucks it up. Fucking prodigy paved the way for flip tricks.

He grew up in Gainesville. I heard he was pretty dorky. But also extremely smart. I think he went to Princeton and got his degree in physics. A friend of mine went out with him for a little. She said he was a dork and always sent her skateboard decks.

On another note. Jason Lee was also a fucking bad ass……………………..

  7. The first time I ever heard of a one-foot ollie – it was when I saw a picture of Jason Lee pulling one off in Thrasher. Because it was just a still pic, I didn’t understand the trick. He was just floating there with only one foot on the board. I was like “how the fuck?”

  8. Rodney Mullen invented the one footed ollie

  9. Holy shit dude. I forgot just how badass Mullen’s really is. Those board slides across the tape side and the side are fucking unreal. Seeing this shit makes me want to grab my fucking board and get bloody on the streets again.

I still don’t see how he can be so fluid in those kickflips. Badass!
