Look at the facts, pure and simple, the internet has created a new generation of lazy, simplistic, douches. I'm 25 and have used the internet since I was 13 years old and I can honestly say, I could live without it. Anyone who cannot, is slovenly and stupid.

I go on every so often (case and point) but I don't do it every day. I like to remind myself I am human and can do things without the likes of a machine. Pure and simple, I hope more people stop being so pathetic.

One day, when I have children of my own, the internet will not be a necessity but an occasional leisure. It's literally the downfall of society in a lot of cases. I can understand the need in certain situations, involving urgencies but for every day use, it's appaling. That's what I believe.

And for Cassie, you would get a lot more out of an education to be around people, sitting in a real class room with a real professor teaching you.

The internet has taken so many things away from people, everyone should do themselves a favor and take it back. Get out into the world because one day when you're old I'm pretty sure you'll regret sitting in front of a screen rather than having the actual experience.

PreWeb: Not being in constant contact with everybody. Distant friends or family meant letters in the mail (!!!) or a costly phone call now and then. Local friends? Give 'em a call or swing by their house, office. Research meant books, newspapers, printed matter, libraries and encyclopedias, physically seeking out information, flipping pages, making notes with a pen. Flitting curiosities ("Gee, who WAS the guy who played the cop in that one movie?") went unsatisfied. Talking to people face to face, strangers or otherwise, was a prime source of information. Stuff was more challenging to purchase, if it even existed. Want a movie? get on your bike, get in the car, leave the house, get to the video shop. Want tickets for a concert or flight? Get on the phone, dial 1-800-whatever. Wait for them to come in the mail. Want to buy something? Go to where it is sold. Need to do some banking beyond just using the ATM? Go to the bank when they are open. Want to know what's going on in the world? Grab a newspaper or wait for the TV news to come on. Want a job? Check the classifieds or start mailing resumes. Check the job boards (actual boards where listings were posted).

The list could go on. Bottom line: the exchange of information was more essential, and in a way more precious. People tended to value communication a bit more, because it took a bit more effort to make it happen. Distant things were distant. The world seemed bigger. Maybe it sounds crappy to those who never lived in that reality, but it was really not. The world moved slower. The very concept of Internet was pure science fiction, so you really did not know what you were missing. was like that for thousands of years. Now it is inconceivable.

Yeah I remember the days before the internet, and Im only 25.

- I enjoyed it more. It was a time when people actually getting off their lazy fat asses and - heaven forbid - went outside and actually talked to other people, and LIVED LIFE

Nowdays people are such fucking losers- wasting their lives away on the internet, having every excuse in the world to never leave the confines of their computer

Its actually pathetic really. Life is like one big fucking parody nowadays

Internet is just like drugs. A little or wise use can help you a lot, but an addiction or misuse can destroy the person in you literally.

I'm 22 but here are a few things I remember from a childhood without Internet:

- When there was this new toy on the market that you just had to have, you had to talk your parents into taking you to Toys-R-Us or beg your parents to call the number on the screen. There wasn't a website your parents could go to and order the toy.

- When you wanted your pictures developed, you had to go drop off a roll of film at the store. You couldn't post your "digitized" photos to Flickr or Photobucket and have them printed at a local store.

- When you wanted to write your friends, there was no email. So you had to put a stamp on an envelope and walk your letter to the mailbox. It was really exciting to get a letter in the mail after waiting a few days/a week to hear back from them. Now it happens instantaneously.

- You went to the library to do your research. There was no Google or Yahoo! And you had to find books using the library catalog. The catalog wasn't accessible from your home computer!

- You had to drive down to Blockbusters to rent movies - there was no Netflix!

- Sharing videos was done by making copies of the video tape and mailing it to your friends. Or, if you were VERY lucky, you could get on America's Funniest Videos. There was no YouTube for you to quickly send links to everyone!

before the internet, if I wanted to see if someone else had an opinion about some random topic, I had to pick people I knew who actually might have an idea

if I wanted to shop for anything pricey that was worth comparing features and looks, I had to go to a lot of stores or get printed catalogs.

also I cannot tell you how glad I am every bill is electronic both receiving and paying!
