I emailed Al Sharpton

I realize it sounds ridiculous. Who the fuck am I? Why would Al Sharpton give a shit what I have to say?

I just couldn't help myself. That fat opportunist fuck got his greedy face in front of as many TV cameras as possible this week to lambaste the New York Post. He's all pissed off about a political cartoon - one that implies that the authors of the stimulus bill are idiots.

The artist used a chimpanzee to represent those Washington idiots. See - chimps are dumb. And a chimp was in the news this week, so it was topical to connect the two current events. But Rev. Sharpton thinks the cartoon implies President Obama is the chimp. (I personally think that's a pretty big leap. Obama didn't write the bill. Political cartoonists are keenly aware of that kinda shit.)

Still, Obama is the face of this stimulus bill and he's a black dude. And black people don't like it when you compare them to a monkey or chimp. I'm not even arguing that. Though I will point out that people have compared President Bush to a chimp for the past decade. (Yes I understand Bush is white so it's okay to compare him to a chimp. There are different rules for different races.)

So Sharpton saw a chance to play the race card on an issue that in my eyes was not race related. Meanwhile there is a huge race issue going on here in Philly. Black men are killing white cops. I saw another funeral procession Friday morning on the way to work.

In that case, the victim was a white guy. A 25 year old cop who had just gotten married. His wife is two months pregnant. A black dude was trying to rob a cab driver. The cabbie threatened to call the cops. The robber basically said "go ahead - I'll shoot you and I'll shoot the cop. So the young cop arrived and the robber stuck to his word. He killed the cop.

This isn't new. This has been going on for years now. Black criminals vs. white cops. I don't know how anyone could see this as anything other than a race issue. So why hasn't Al Sharpton, the self-appointed defender of race relations stepped in?

Here's what I sent to him via email:

Rev. Sharpton,

I see you are spending quite a bit of time this week bravely standing up to the artist of a newspaper comic. What a great way to use your influence. I hope you sense the sarcasm in my tone.

There is a crisis in my community. Criminals are killing Philadelphia cops. 7 officers gunned down since 2006.

So why am I seeking your help? You have positioned yourself as a leader in the African American community, and I see this as a race issue. Black men are killing white cops.

In the most recent case, the black assailant was attacking a cab driver. During the fight, the cab driver said he was going to call police, and the attacker responded, "'If you call the police, I'm going to shoot you and I'm going to shoot any officers that respond to the scene.'" That's according to Captain James Clark of the Philadelphia Police Homicide Unit.

Please try to bring your positive influence to Philadelphia to help young black men understand that police are not for target practice. I honestly think you've spent enough time harping about the drawing of a chimpanzee in the New York fishwrap.

First, Al Sharpton wonâ€™t respond to you. Itâ€™s not in his interest as a race baiter to answer your email and thereâ€™s no money in it for him. And using Einsteinâ€™s definition of insanity, youâ€™re not insane until you keep emailing Al Sharpton and he just keeps ignoring you.

I know Philly is a world all its own but…..White folks usually kill more cops overall. I’ve always been amazed at that myself. I guess white cop killers are just more deranged or something. Black criminals generally prefer to run away. Now black folks in big towns kill more cops than whites do because big cities like yours – well, even medium sized ones – have scads (that’s not a racist term is it? I hope not) of blacks packed in the black part of town like sardines (that’s not a racist description is it? I hope not) and that’s where the crime happens (I think because there’s lots of mommies and very few daddies). It’s not that the cops are picking on the black man, it’s just that’s where the crime is and that’s where the vast majority of the 911 calls come from. So a bunch of cops – white and black cops, mind you – collide with a bunch of black criminals and kersplunge!! Cop shoots black man or black man shoots cop. No mystery. Now the rest of the country that isn’t urbanized (there’s a lot of that still, believe it or not) has more white criminals shooting at cops. That’s where the statistics start to work themselves out. This is all anectotal stuff but here’s what the FBI says:

BTW, Hispanics are considered White.

Now, the black percentage of the poputation is only 13% but they kill cops 75% of the time. Whoa. Forget everthing I posted above. You’re right, Jason, we have a problem.

I was waiting for that part. White men can take the blame for child molestation, serial killing, and unabomber style terrorism here in the U.S. Awful stuff no doubt. But black dudes are going to have to accept the blame for muggings, robbery, assault, and cop killing.

Now let’s see what we can do to straighten all this out. (Can’t we all just get along? haha)

I don’t think I’ll comment on this post because I don’t think I’m qualified. Except for a brief stint in Shreveport when I was 6-11, I haven’t lived anywhere that wasn’t overwhelmingly white. I went to high school in Hayward WI which didn’t have any black people until around 1983 (at least none with children in the school system). Then I moved to Madison, where despite it’s desire to consider itself liberal and multicultural, I think blacks make up less than 3%. Now I’m in Australia. I’ve seen 2 black people, but one of them was on TV playing rugby.

I have several black friends, but I’ll admit that has much more to do with shared interests and economic proximity than it does with race.

I don’t see a response as it doesn’t play to his agenda.

I bet his secretary or whoever scans/filters his public email address gave it a quick skim, added your email to the blacklist, and hit delete.

Maybe you should have suggested a meet and greet with his favorite bottle of scotch, etc on hand to make the discussion a little more interesting.
