It could definitely be some fucking prank call karma. We were dicks back in the day. And I thought it was the funniest thing in the world at the time.

@C-Dub:
1. I haven’t received any more calls after Sunday morning. I’m assuming the little fucker found something else to entertain his ADD-riddled brain. So I’m probably not going to sweat it.
2. That’s a good question. Ummm… I’d certainly consider switching back to JJ. It’s easier to type (would save a fraction of a second – several times a day. that shit adds up).

It was an odd time for prank calls. Dinner time on Saturday. My cell phone rang and I saw it was a Philly number so I picked up (could have been a friend or something).

Me – “Hello?”
Caller – *unrecognizable murmur*
Me – “Who’s calling?”
Caller – *mumbling* “Mehmehmuhmehmehmuh” *laughs*

I hung up.

Kid called back. I stupidly played along and said “I’m busy. Let me call you back.” Then I hung up.

Phone rang again. I hit “ignore” and called the number back. I wanted him to know I had his number. Or maybe I hoped his mom would answer – like it was a land line. Got his voicemail because he was already calling me again.

The voicemail sounded like a teen boy. Or pre-teen. Kinda hip-hop. Either a young black dude or a white kid trying to sound cool. I hung up.

Phone rang again, so I turned it off. Left it off for an hour or so. When I turned it back on, I had a total of 15 or so incoming calls from that number, including a voicemail from the kid with mumbling and boyish giggling.

Story over.

Until Sunday morning at around 10am. Kid called back and pulled the same routine. I turned the phone off.

Later I turned the phone back on and saw 18 total incoming calls from that number.

Not funny. Not clever. I didn’t fight back.
