My email address was spoofed by spammers
I'm getting shitloads of email bounces delivered to my account in reply to messages about cock pills. Looks like someone put my email in the reply-to field for their spam message. Fuckers.
I don't suppose there's much I can do aside from waiting it out. Any ideas?

You might as well order some of those pills while you wait for it to work out of your email system…

That’s why I use disposable e-mail addresses and keep my personal one for family only

it’s called a “Joe Job” and it sucks if you have a published email or a catch all domain. all you can do is wait it out or blackhole the email they are using from your domain.

Also, i use a personal one for friends/family and usually use sitename.com@mydomain.com for other shit. that way i know who sells me out to a spammer list. I then add that email to the blackhole list and say a silent fuck you to that company that sold me out.
the personal one works great until some a-hole friend of yours uses a sites ‘email this link to a friend’ feature to open the spam flood gates.
fucking spam and fucking inconsiderate friends.

Yeah in this case the Joe Jobbers were using random fake email accounts with my band’s domain. So any replies or bounces were hitting my catch all. For example, I’d see an email bounce meant for sgTfDW@thecodes.net in my catch all email inbox for that domain.

I use exim for my MTA so it’s just a matter of adding the address they are using for the Joe job to a blackhole rule.
Really depends on who/what handles your mail and what they allow. Some places… Gmail allow for a + to make a specfic email for a site
Example, if I was user@gmail.com, I can give out thechurning+user@gmail.com to a site and then filter that address if they abuse it. However a smart spammr could just strip the part before the + so ymmv. Also some sites use something other than a + so check with them to see what is available
good luck.
Ps. Fuck spammers.

Thanks Jack. And Fuck Spammer indeed!
That’ll come in handy when I use a paid advertiser link.
Listening to Black Crows in my back yard BTW. A Fredstock (Like a Woodstock) and when I say in my back yard, I literary mean in my back yard. Got the windows open and letting all them live tunes pour in.

Mac, also having a catchall email domain means all emails sent to an address not specifically set to go to a user gets routed to a default address (aka my catchalll inbox)

Hey JJ. You have to just wait it out. It has happened to me so many times.
Just thought I’d check in with you. I seem to do this once every 2yrs or so.
