Go Team!

This was on the front page of my university’s newspaper this week. The issue was this:
We have a pretty large university with a pretty mediocre football team. Two weeks ago, we played a highly ranked team and ended up destroying them causing a major upset. It was pretty amazing, I say.
At the end of the game, about 15 students from the student section rushed the field to celebrate with the football players. They had discussed this with some security guards before the game, and it was agreed that it was no big deal as long as they avoid the goal posts.
Apparently it wasn’t.
I dont know if you can read the caption (click the picture to see a larger version), but look right below the sleeve of the fan’s arm that is forced to the ground. There is a red dot of a taser gun and a copper holding one right above him. We know for sure that a few students were tasered, but we don’t know if it was this guy.
One officer claimed they were just trying to make sure there was no conflict started with the other team.
Another one said they were making sure nobody went near the goal posts.
….
Pssh. I’m sure you noticed the cop’s face, too.

Do Not Look at This Picture

Watching college football this past weekend, I saw one of the worst sports related injuries I’ve ever seen. It was during the Florida/Alabama game. The Tide’s Tyrone Prothro jumped up to grab a catch in the endzone and landed awkwardly on his left leg. His lower leg snapped like a twig, bending more than 90 degrees.

Dude was a champ after it happened. As he was carted off the field and ultimately to the hospital, Prothro pumped his fist in victory toward the crowd without a hint of pain on his face. I’m a true Gator fan, but I have complete respect for this guy.

Click here if you want to see a picture of the injury, but seriously I warned you.
